Scarlet KIDS Program

camp v1 CAMP IS STILL MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER!

While many of New Jersey's children returned to in-person classrooms this school year, it was still not a return to pre-pandemic normal. Children and teachers were masked and socially distanced. Some ate outdoors. Many still couldn't pal around with hugs and high-fives. Isolation and quarantines often meant that children had to quickly pivot back to virtual/remote-instruction for a week or two at a time. Children and adults alike are experiencing pandemic fatigue. For many children, SCARLET KIDS is the light at the end of the tunnel!

Camp this summer will look more like pre-pandemic camp and many children will be relieved. Even though we were masked and distanced when indoors last year, our campers enjoyed the fun and relaxation that only happens during summer break. Our Scarlet KIDS Camp staff’s priority this summer is to provide dynamic programming in a safe and FUN manner. Our health and safety protocols prioritize the health and well-being of our campers, families, and staff through the implementation of targeted health and safety protocols which have been created in accordance with NJ Department of Health guidelines, CDC guidelines, and Rutgers University’s Returning to Rutgers Guide. Our procedures may be modified and revised as guidance from these entities may change. Camp staff are required to be fully vaccinated and boosted, unless they obtain a religious/medical waiver from Rutgers and PCR test weekly. Campers who are not fully vaccinated must provide proof of negative tests for each week of their camp enrollment. Tests will be performed by parents upon arrival at camp and Binax Now test kits will be provided at no cost. Depending upon camp regulations, masking might not be required this year. We certainly hope that the downward trend continues. Swimming will be subject to campus pool availability and may not occur for some or all weeks.

The Scarlet KIDS Summer Camp Program is a co-ed recreational summer program for school-aged children based on the grades they are entering in the upcoming fall. Children going into first through fifth grades may enroll in our summer camp program. 6th graders who were enrolled in Scarlet KIDS last year may request to return this summer. 7th-9th graders who participated in Scarlet KIDS previously may apply to be considered for volunteering with camp.
